Photographer Nick Risinger travelled 60.000 miles to create a giant 360 degrees panorama of the night sky. The end result is an
interactive photo which can be zoomed; from detailed star clusters to the complete night sky in one view.
The panorama shows how we would see the sky if it would be 3.000 times brighter. To create the photo Nich travelled trough the United States and South Africa. Every night he used his specialised equipement to get 20 to 70 shots at three different color wavelengths.
Earlier 360 panorama photos only used the red and blue channel. Nick wanted to show a true representation of how we could see it. The 28 year old photographer has no background in astrophotography and learned his skills himself via internet tutorials.

The photos are shot using a
Finger Lakes ML-8300 monochrome camera and a Zeiss Sonnar 85mm f/2.8 lens. Nick used 37,400 photos to create his 5,000 megapixel end result. More information about the project can be found on his
Photopic Sky Survey website.
